📜 Terms of Service

By entering Yakk you confirm that you are 18 years of age or older and that you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. What Yakk is

Yakk provides real-time chat rooms and private messaging. You may join as a guest with a nickname, or create an account to reserve your nickname and use friend lists. Some features (custom nickname colors, the #lounge room, ad-free browsing) are available through a paid Premium subscription.

2. Your conduct

You agree not to use Yakk to:

• Post anything illegal, or facilitate illegal activity.
• Harass, threaten, stalk, or dox another person (including sharing real names, addresses, phone numbers, or photos without consent).
• Post hate speech or content promoting violence.
• Share or solicit sexual content involving anyone under 18 — zero tolerance; accounts and content will be removed and may be reported to authorities.
• Spam, flood, advertise, or distribute malware or phishing links.
• Impersonate another person, or attempt to access another user's account.

3. Moderation

Chat is moderated by the site owner and appointed moderators. We may mute, kick, or ban any nickname or account, and remove any content, at our sole discretion, with or without warning or explanation. Bans may be temporary or permanent.

4. Your content

You retain ownership of what you post. By posting, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive license to store, display, and transmit that content as part of operating the Service. Room messages are public — anyone in the room can read them. Private messages are ephemeral and not stored by us, but they pass through our servers; never share passwords, financial details, or other sensitive information in chat.

5. Accounts

You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for all activity under your account. Usernames must not be offensive or misleading. We may reclaim or suspend usernames that violate these Terms.

6. Premium subscriptions

• Premium is a recurring subscription billed through Stripe until you cancel. We never see or store your card details.
• You can cancel anytime; Premium remains active until the end of the current billing period.
• Refunds are at the discretion of Bayou Binary LLC except where required by law.
• Premium perks may change over time; the core promise is an ad-free experience.

7. Advertising

Free users may see advertisements served by third-party ad networks. Those networks operate under their own privacy policies, which we do not control.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee uptime, message delivery, or data preservation — messages and accounts can be lost. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Bayou Binary LLC is not liable for any damages arising from your use of the Service, including exposure to other users' content.

9. Changes

We may update these Terms; continued use of Yakk after changes take effect constitutes acceptance. Material changes will re-trigger the in-app acknowledgment prompt.
